Hi there, I'm Vincent! π
I love to write clean CSS, lightweight JS, and semantic HTML. I also have experience in React and Vue.
Here's what I've been up to the last few years, professionally and personally. β¬οΈ
Ameriprise Annual Report
The Ameriprise Annual Report 2021 is a static page I wrote in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a dash of jQuery. The site is an adaptation of its printed version, and I was allowed to modify the design to format it appropriately for web.
Updating legacy Ameriprise sites to using React
Several legacy products were using Freemarker, which I helped update to use React. The majority of new product landing pages are now comprised of React components that can be customized using an internal CMS. These include:

Helping small business owners build their websites
I built the site formtoideas.com for Luther Mercer, a friend of a friend. He already had designs created, and just needed a developer to make it happen. I created this static site in plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to make it as lightweight as possible, while also focusing on transitions and animations to give it a sleek and polished user experience.
I don't charge as much as I should for it, but I enjoy it! πΈ
Watson Insurance Training was for another friend of that same friend, and was an existing WordPress site that I helped rebrand. I was given a new design that used the existing functionality - and using only CSS - repositioned elements, altered the color palette and typography, and generally changed the basic WordPress theme to resemble the new design.
Trying out new things and testing my creativity π€
This project was an exercise in creativity, and - please bear with me here - was built with a "no-coding" framework.
Designing this app was more just for fun, and to see how we (a few friends and I) could focus on creating a very unique and fun user experience. The result was a habit tracker that, in order to mark a task complete for a day, required you to pull a sword from a stone (the sword was my idea). We had just watched King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, so that may have played a part in my creative process.
I also created all the mockups for the App Store. π§βπ¨
Osmosis.org and Osmosis mobile
Unlike the app mentioned above, I can also code in React Native. I worked on Osmosis's mobile app which provides video resources and study tools for medical students. I also worked on their web application which offers the same features (written using Knockout).
Thomson Reuters Westlaw
One of the largest design projects I worked on at Thomson Reuters was rebranding their flagship product, Westlaw. This involved a lot of componentized CSS that was dependent based on product variation, locale, and user permissions.
Thomson Reuters Panoramic
When I first joined Thomson Reuter's front-end team, they were just beginning to create their internal UI framework using Angular and Bootstrap. This framework can be seen in several of their new products, most prominently in Thomson Reuters Panoramic.
Thomson Reuters Firm Central
The very first product I worked on at Thomson Reuters was Firm Central, which was a .NET web application. The front-end was written in Backbone.js and Underscore.js.
